i was able to set-up my wireless printer and it took me awhile because i’m not really that good in computer. the good thing is that i was able to use it. the printer arrived this pm and after 30 minutes to an hour i was able to test it. and for me its perfect…luv it..

If you are going to use the MP560 with Mac OS and WIFI, read “Otto Olah’s” review first. In addition to his guidance, I had to download drivers form Cannon to even get to Otto’s point in the install. The systems preferences kept showing the 560 as a scanner only. Too early to tell if I like the printer or not, however compared to my last Epson, which installed on my WiFi network with MAC OS flawlessly, the MP560 took way too much time. The 3 “stars” are based on the complexity of my install alone. Note: the advice on using the USB to start with, to load drivers, and then use the network may work much better, however my Mac is not in a spot to have done this easily, so i was using the network install from the start.

Update: Installed drivers for WIFI on a Windows7 laptop….piece of cake.

Took awhile to setup printer on the network, only supports WEP and I had my network configured for WPA but once it was configured it works great! Wonderful print quality and I would recommend this printer for anyone who needs home-quality scanning and printing!

I like my canon MP610 I have had few issues with it, actually none that I can remember now especially compared to the HPs Ive worked with. Anyway this Ink is great but like all ink it is outrageously expensive and while you can push it to print more than it wants to it still seems like this ink is used up faster than ink from other printer brands and still costs the same or more

I really dont trust generic ink or refill type products because I’ve heard stories about the mess they can make and issues with your printer. I would love to save some money but I dont want the potential hassle. As for the Canon original ink. I put it in the printer and its working fine. Not really a lot to tell. I just wish they lasted longer.

I have had the Pixma Pro9000MrkII for only two weeks. I am replacing my beloved Canon i9900 that I have/had used for a little over five years and had never had to take it in for a single repair until a few weeks ago and was told it needed a new Print Head, and my husband opted to buy a new one rather than have the i9900 repaired because he was afraid something else would “go out” on it and he would have to have more repairs done. But though I like this one, some things I liked better on my old Canon. There is a problem (it is a problem to me, maybe others have figured out a way to overcome it) but the colors print out too dark and color seems too saturated when I print personal photos from the computer. I have went into the area where I thought I would be able to control the colors, but it was not simple for me to do and not being a professional photographer (as so many of the other reviewers that I have read reviews from here claim to be) I do not know how nor what place to go to change the quality or the tone, whatever it is that I need to change. The colors are too dark, I need to lighten up skin tones, etc.and I think maybe better contrast. When I still had the i9900, which I did right after Christmas this past year (2009 and early 2010) I had a lot of picures that I had taken of my family at Christmas and it was very easy to adjust color on it and lighten the skin tones when the picture was too dark. I know this is painting me as a rank amateur and that is exactly what I am but I have been printing photographs on my printers for years and they were fine and now all of a sudden, I buy a new printer, just an updated version of my old one and should be as good, and probably would be if I could just figure out how to get the color printing for the photos to look better. It is fine for everyday printing of text and so on, but then, I could have bought a small fifty or sixty dollar printer to do that. I have an HP photo printer that still works fine but after I bought the i9900 I just stopped using the HP because the Canon was easier to use, I liked the ease of printing on the Canon as opposed to the HP, the paper loading was easier and the controls easier to get to, etc., but the print quality was almost as good on the HP as on the i9900 but it was easier for me to stick to one or the other so I chose to stick with the Canon. But I am not quite as pleased with the new Canon Pro9000. I was expecting so much more from it after reading the glowing reviews here that made it sound like the quality would be drastically improved with this new one but that has not been the case. I have to get this color corrected! Can anyone out there help me? Any advice or suggestions? Thanks.

I purchased this printer to replace my beloved Canon i900D which had finally given up the ghost after (I’m guessing) seven years or so of faithful service and I don’t know how many thousand photos printed. Because Canon doesn’t have a good six-ink printer in the i900D price range any more (all the inexpensive printers are four-ink only), I actually tried an Epson R280 first, but as was the case years before, was seriously disappointed by the mottled flesh tones in the Epson output, so I decided to cough up the $$$ and go for the Canon I wanted (well, I’d love the 9500 but I have some price constraints!).

This printer is a beauty! The print quality is at least as good as I had hoped: brilliant, life-like colors, razor-sharp resolution, no discernible dithering or spottiness in my prints, and just an all-round beauty to the finished output. And with a printhead that’s nearly 3/4″ wide, my prints just fly out. I haven’t timed them yet, but I’d estimate 4 x 6 borderless prints come out in under 10 seconds, and my first 13 x 19 print yesterday zipped out in about a minute (possibly less)! Oh, and a 13 x 19 from a good 8MP image off my Canon 20d is a joy to behold! Fine resolution, rich color, and plenty of basic WOW! factor.

That printhead, by the way, is removable and replaceable. I don’t imagine I’ll need to do so any time soon, but the fact of a replaceable head should significantly extend the lifetime of the printer, I would guess.

Setup was easy and instructions were clear. The printhead alignment is fully automatic thanks to an in-printer sensor that “reads” the test patterns and adjusts accordingly, so there’s no guesswork to it–just start the alignment and let it do its thing.

Separate ink cartridges–8 now instead of 6–mean you only change what you need. I haven’t had it long enough to check, but if past experience is any indication, prints are very durable as long as protected from UV light (such as fluorescent or sunlight) by being displayed behind glass. My one wish is that Canon would have bundled (or made available at lower cost) a sample pack of some of their hotshot premium/fine-art papers as I’m not sure what some of them even are and would hate to spend the $$$ for a sample pack and decide they just weren’t worth it.

I also miss the closed tray for 4×6 paper in the i900D. With the Pro9000 you really want to keep your paper stored out of the printer so you can close the lid, to keep dust out of both printer and paper. I wish I could keep paper in an enclosed bin. But that’s a nit on an otherwise excellent product. Be warned, though, this printer is BIG. At 26.0″ (W) x 13.9″ (D) x 7.6″ (H), be sure you have the real estate for this behemoth!

This Pro9000MkII printer replaced a S9000 which suddenly failed electronically. The Pro9000MkII will print with better colors than the S9000 probably due to the 2 additional ink colors. I does a great job on photos, cad drawings, and regular text.

There is one negative with the printer. It makes a loud mechanical noise when initially feeding the paper at the beginning of a page. This noise has also been noted by others. I am getting used to the noise, but it was a surprise at first.

Otherwise, the cost of ink can be an issue, particularly Canon ink. So, one needs to shop around for the best price, but maybe that should go without saying. I have never used aftermarket ink in my photo printers, but some have told me I should.

Look elsewhere if you want to print banners. This will not print banners.

I really like this printer. It is the best photo printer ever.

Let me say that I have just bought this printer and the quality is wonderful. I recently had a photo printed on the 9500 and I prefer the quality of the 9000. I do a lot of onsite printing and I use this printer sometimes to do my 8×10′s and it is great. I would tell people to use the high quality photo paper, it seems to make a big difference and they say that it will make the photo last a little longer.

I’m sure there is nothing wrong with this ink, but it does not work with the Canon MP610 printer. Amazon’s webpage indicates it is compatible and there is even a picture of the MP610 on the enclosed brochure, so Canon is under the same misconception.

Print quality is great. I have been using this product with my Canon Selby postcard printer for years. The postcards arrive at their destination in great shape — no special coating is required.
